Middy Douglas Civil War Pension (Debbie's G-G-G-Grandmother)

Debra Sue's Great-Great-Great-Grandmother, Middy Beard Douglas, wife of William Pascal Douglas

Middy Douglas, mother of Silias Douglas,
Silas, father of Mary Florence Douglas (wife of Leander Dennis Morrow),
Leander 'Dennis' Morrow, father of Floyd 'Glen' Morrow,
Floyd 'Glen' Morrow, father of Donald Morrow.

Civil War soldiers (or their spouses, dependents) could file for a civil war pension.  This had to be verified that the person was who they said they were, the person deserving of a pension was a vetern of the war, and the situation for the pension was what it was.  The government would send someone out to verify all this with people who knew the situation and didn't have a vested interest in the outcome.  Middy Douglas (1805-1883) was appling for a pension due to her son Benjamin, who had been killed in the war and had been supporting her, and as her husband, and Benjamin's father had died earlier in Kentucky in 1854, and she was now a widower, left with no support now that Benjamin had been killed, and thus was due a pension.  The attached documents are the government's investigator's report.  The people interviewed were John Allgood (notice he made a 'mark'), who was Middy's son-in-law, and William Harrison Douglas, her son.  Benjamin's officier also made a report stating that Benjamin had been in good health when entering the war, where and how he died.
